Miss Iowa: Day Two & Three

Hi Everyone!

Well Miss Iowa week is in full swing! Yesterday I was so exhausted after rehearsal that I didn't have time to blog, so I am going to make up for it now!

Monday was a busy day. All of the Outstanding Teen Contestants had the chance to volunteer at The Putnam Museum. Mainly, we worked with one of their newest exhibits, The Titanic. It was very cool to see some of the artifacts that were recovered from the wreck; however, none of them were recovered directly from the ship. Instead, the recovered artifacts were found in the debris field surrounding the ship. I enjoyed learning about all of the interesting facts that surround this historic ship.

After the museum, it was off to The Fountains Senior Living Community. There, the teen contestants performed their talent for some of the residents. I loved getting to see everyone perform, and being able to perform myself.

Today was an early morning. The contestants met at seven in the morning to speak with local radio stations. The experience was a lot of fun.

After that, we headed over to Ray Porter's workout studio for a 'Work Out With Ray'. This workout was challenging, but well worth the time. As Miss Iowa's Outstanding Teen, you will be expected to workout twice a week with him. I am ready for this challenge since fitness is part of my platform. I realize that in order to promote healthy living, I must be healthy as well!

Soon, Contestants will again meet at The Fountains to watch the national teen pageant DVD. Then right after, we will all be heading back to The Clarion for our last normal rehearsal because tomorrow we have a dress rehearsal at The Adler!

I will blog again tomorrow!
Jess
