Miss America

Hello again!

I hope every one enjoyed their weekend. (or is possibly still enjoying it due to the Martin Luther King Jr. day!)

I have definitely had a very interesting weekend. Friday I got to leave school early to attend a debate tournament at Iowa City West High School. I got to enjoy a full 2 days with lots of my friends, and work on my public speaking. Over all, I got 8th place out of 21 in my first attempt at an event called Student Congress, and 4th place in my main event, Extemporaneous Speaking.

After the tournament, I made my way down to Muscatine to watch the Miss America Pageant! A big thanks to Wendy Robinson- Koch for hosting the party. The board members and title holders all gathered at her house to cheer on Miss Iowa, Pauli Mayfield. Unfortunately, she didn't make it to the top 15, but that didn't stop our fun! We continued to cheer on the rest of the girls, and make predictions on who would be the next Miss America.

Congratulations to Miss Nebraska, the youngest Miss America ever!

Over all it was a great night, and I hope to be able to share more nights like that with the Muscatine/ Pearl City Board and Titleholders again very soon!

-Jessica
